Hello fellow cooperators,
During this joyous season it is with great sadness that I bring you this news:
[From C.E. Pugh at National Cooperative Grocers 12/20/2018]
Earlier this week, twenty one people, including eighteen NCBA CLUSA (National Cooperative Business Association - Cooperative League of the USA) staff members, were tragically killed when their bus overturned in Uganda. The employees, all of whom worked for NCBA CLUSA’s Youth Empowerment Through Agriculture (YETA) project, were traveling to the city of Mbale following a staff training and retreat. NCBA staff are en route to Uganda to provide support and coordinate assistance for the families of those lost.
The cooperative community has a long-standing tradition of coming to the aid of those in need. In memoriam, NCG is making a donation to the Cooperative Development Foundation’s Disaster Recovery Fund, which assists cooperatives, families and communities when they are most in need. All donations are welcome.
Our deepest sympathies to these families and to the entire NCBA CLUSA family during this very difficult time.
