Common Ground Food Co-op is now an Authorized WIC Vendor and can accept WIC, also known as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.
What is WIC?
WIC is a food assistance program for Women, Infants, and Children. It helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well and stay healthy by providing:
- A WIC EBT card to purchase special healthy foods - like fruits & vegetables, milk, juice, eggs, cheese, cereal, whole grains, dry beans or peas, and peanut butter.
- Information about nutrition to help you and your family eat well and be healthy.
- Information and help with breastfeeding.
- Help in finding health care and other services in your area.
How does it work?
WIC provides an EBT card to purchase special healthy foods like fruits and vegetables (fresh, frozen, or canned), milk, formula, juice, eggs, cheese, cereal, whole grains, dry or canned beans or peas, and peanut butter. WIC allots a monthly food balance for customers to purchase produce and pre-approved grocery staples.
