Meet the Muralist: Jose Vazquez

Meet artist and muralist Jose Vazquez, recently selected to create a new large-scale public mural at 115 W. Main Street in Downtown Urbana!

Before painting begins this September, the City of Urbana Arts and Culture Program invites the community to meet Jose, learn more about the project, enjoy light refreshments, and take part in our Urbana Word Association activity.

What words do you associate with Urbana?

Community members will be invited to contribute one word at a time—a place, feeling, quality, memory, or idea that you connect with Urbana. The words collected will help give Jose a sense of how our community experiences and understands Urbana, providing inspiration as he develops the mural design.

Stop by anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. The evening will include informal conversation with Jose, brief remarks about the project, refreshments, and an opportunity to celebrate this new mural project in Downtown Urbana!
