Common Ground strives to be the center of a vibrant community. Our owners believe that a vibrant community is one that is alive with art.
Our gallery is located in our highly utilized Flatlander Classroom, a space dedicated to connecting the community, facilitating educational opportunities focusing on healthy living, and providing access to local artists. This multi-use space is ideal for integrating the arts into the urban environment and creating partnerships among artists, the community and business. This year, we will be hosting two artist at a time, allotting each artist a locked case that is 8’ long x 44’’ high x 4’’ wide. We always welcome kids and group shows to apply!

Chimeral Art: Combining Digital and Traditional Methods
Dream and Imagination, by Roberto Sabas
Roberto Sabas' Biography:
Born in the Philippines and raised on Guam, Roberto Sabas imbues his literary and visual art works with the color and vibrant imagery of the tropics. A trained illustrator, he cites his father’s influence in art and poetry. Roberto’s art is published by Human Kinetics, Digital Graphics, the YMCA, and the USTA. His short fiction and poems are published in The News Gazette, UIS Alchemist Review, two anthologies published by Devil’s Party Press (see my Amazon author page) and in a now defunct Weird Tales’ social media page. His wife and children share in his passion for creativity and truth.
Roberto Sabas' Artist Statement:
As a traditionally trained visual artist, I have sought to master new media as a means of reaching a wider audience. Ever experimenting, I employ a hybrid of digital and traditional techniques to develop works that have resonance with art audiences of diverse backgrounds online, people who might not otherwise consider themselves art collectors but are fascinated with the vibrancy and dizzying array of viewable artworks online. I see the internet as a means of establishing inroads for art audiences who relate to my unique perspective. I hope in time to not only garner a wider audience through the display of my work on social media platform, but also to tap the potential for my work and gauge its reach via data analytics. Ultimately, I want to create art that is easily accessible yet challenging.
