Turkey Brine Recipe


In a large stockpot combine:
1/2 gallon water
1 cup sea salt
1 cup sugar
5 bay leaves
2 lemons, quartered
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1 gallon ice



Simmer about 15 minutes stirring to make sure sugar and salt are dissolved. Remove from heat and let set until you are ready to brine your bird.

Savory Stuffed Pumpkin


  • 2 small pie pumpkins
  • Pinch each of salt and black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 8 ounces vegetarian or regular sausage, crumbled
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped Granny Smith apples
  • 1 6-ounce package stuffing mix
  • 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese (optional)
  • 1 cup vegetable broth


Apple Cranberry Pie


Juice of 1 orange
Zest of 1 orange
5 cups of peeled, sliced apples 
(approx. 5 medium apples)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, chopped 
(if frozen, do not thaw)
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Dough for double pie crust
