We celebrate a diverse beer selection here at Common Ground, and with so many varieties it can be difficult to choose. For those (like myself) who enjoy beer but may not have a grasp on what food goes with each style, we stumbled across this helpful chart about pairing beer with food. We have put together a list of beers and complementary recipes for each meal of the day! Yes, that includes breakfast.
Sure you've heard of Bloody Marys and Momosas with weekend brunch, so why not beer? We recommend something citrusy and a little sweet like Arcadia Ale's Whitsun Ale. This beer is brewed with orange peel and coriander, flavors that will wake you up in the morning. Wheat enhances the mouthfeel of the beer and honey provides a caramelized sweetness. However, this beer is not too sweet and with three hop varieties, this ale has a dryness that pairs well with savory breakfast foods.
Pour your Whitsun alongside this quiche recipe created by Renee Russel for Co+op, stronger together:
For a great vegetarian lunch time beer we are recommending Founders Porter. This beer receives top ratings on every beer ranking site. With 6.5 ABV and a dark color and hints of coffee, this robust porter is well balanced with hops you can taste.
Drink this dark, silky beer as you chow down a portobello mushroom sandwich. We recommend this marinated portobello sandwich recipe (and sun dried pesto spread!) from Co+op, stronger together:
Beer at dinner time should be flavorful, you deserve it. For this first dinner pairing suggestion we like Rogue Farms 7 Hop IPA with our very own Food For All Red Lentil Dal. A pint of Rogue Farms 7 Hop IPA is so full of hops, this beer needs a meal that can stand up to its flavor, and with spices like cayenne and curry, we think this Dal will do the trick!

If you partake in carnivorous fare, we also recommend drinking 7 Hop IPA with beef. This smoky grilled burger from Co+op, stronger together is a perfect match:
THE REAL BEER FLOAT
What could be better than a Real Beer Float? For this we chose Boulevard's Chocolate Ale and Three Twins Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. In this case, sweet balances sweet for an interesting treat that satisfies two cravings in one!
Have fun with it - we have a wide variety of dark, malty beers, some sweet and some bitter. Try a few!
