Cooking Healthy on a Budget: Smoky Tempeh Chili

Cooking Healthy on a Budget: Smoky Tempeh Chili

Eventbrite - Cooking Healthy on a Budget: Vegetarian Chili

Led by Steve Schaberg

Thursday, January 5th, 6-7:30pm

Free*, must register

This class is part of Common Ground’s Food For All Program featuring one of our budget-friendly recipes that can be prepared for less than $2.00 per serving! Vegetarian Chili is a co-op classic and we'll be updating it with tempeh. Unlike tofu and TVP, tempeh is a whole bean food made via fermentation, so it is naturally higher in protein, fiber, and vitamins. We'll also be discussing time and money saving tips for cooking dry beans for multiple meals at once.

These classes fill up weeks in advance and many people would love the opportunity to take them, so please only sign up if you are able to attend to ensure we have the most attendance possible. In this class, you will get to help prepare the recipe (and of course taste the recipe). You'll also receive a booklet full of great tips for stretching your food dollars and still feeding your family great food, as well as access to dozens more Food For All recipes.

*There is a $5 fee to reserve a seat. When you attend the class you will receive a $5 voucher.

About the Instructor: Steve earned his chops in the Common Ground kitchen for a year and half before migrating down to the cash registers and becoming a manager. In his spare time he draws cartoons and performs stand-up comedy, each with a workmanlike proficiency.

Class Type: Cooking and Discussion, Demonstration and Interactive

As always, if you prefer to pay in person, you may sign up with our Front of House staff at the registers in the store.
