Become a Member

Common Ground Food Co-op is a member-owned grocery store that has served Champaign-Urbana for over thirty years. While you do need to be a member to shop in the store, non-members are welcomed (and encouraged!) to visit us 3 times before joining by using a Guest Pass (available at the register). Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you navigate the store and answer any questions you might have.

If you're ready to join, simply fill out a short information card at the register and make your member investment--that's it! Becoming a member-owner doesn't really cost anything; you simply make a $60 investment, which is fully refundable for any reason. There are no annual fees. You don't have to pay your full member investment on the day you join. We ask for a minimum $10 down payment on your investment on the day you join, after which we have several payment options. Your equity will help the co-op fund store improvements, educational programs, and more.

Membership Matters!

Every dollar you spend at the co-op supports the membership's shared mission--to promote local and organic food production, foster conscious consumerism, and build a strong community. We partner with local farmers, companies, and collectives that employ sustainable methods, provide a venue to sell their goods, and seek to educate our members on the health and taste benefits of these products. By joining, you become part of a community of people who are working to change the world through what they eat.
